What to think about before you order

Bulk brewers make filter coffee into an insulated jug or an airpot, which is the only sensible way to serve a room of any size. Nobody queues, nothing is made to order, and the coffee holds its temperature for a couple of hours without stewing on a hotplate.

The trade-off is honest: filter coffee is not espresso, and a bulk brewer cannot make you a flat white. What it can do is put eighty cups on a table in the fifteen minutes between sessions, which is a job no bean-to-cup machine on earth will do.

Conference venues typically pair one of these with a bean-to-cup on the same floor — bulk for the break, made-to-order for the people who wander out mid-session.
